Red Studio (Secondary Resources)

Developed by MoMA in collaboration with high school students, Red Studio explores issues and questions raised by teens about modern art, today’s working artists, and what goes on behind the scenes at a museum.  Features include teen interviews with artists Shahzia Sikander, Vito Acconnci, and Ralph Eggleston, and MoMA curators Paola Antonelli and Joachim Pissarro. Contests have included youDesign as well as the recent Character Sketch Contest. In conjunction with Dada, new activities include FAUXTOGRAM and CHANCE WORDS.

Destination Modern Art

Designed for children ages five to eight, Destination: Modern Art features a visitor from outer space who is sent to Earth on a mission to explore modern art. At MoMA, the friendly alien investigates Vincent van Gogh’s The Starry Night (1889) and other works and then looks for “art in unusual places” at P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center.
