SimplyBox is a browser add-on and web application. It allows you to easily capture any resources you are viewing in your browser and save it to a container for retrival, storing, and sharing. In addition, with a little imagination, this tool becomes a very useful tool for students to use to synthesize new information from collections of research gathered on the web. The developers of SimplyBox recognize the potential for their tool in the classroom and are going to be releasing some new features that will make this tool even more useful. Weebly is an extremely easy web based tool that allows you to create web sites. It is all drag and drop and the user needs no technical experience, aside from knowing how to use a mouse and a keyboard. There is a free version and a Pro version. With the pro version you get the ability to password protect pages, create up to ten different sites, audio player and more.

They are offering free accounts through their “In The Classroom” grant.  Look for the link on the left margin titled, In The Classroom.  The grant will enable you to create students accounts and save completed works out as MP3 files.

Jooce is targeting the mobile computer user. Not someone that has a laptop, but someone that may not even own their own computer and uses a shared computer. This mobile computer user is mobile between shared computers. It’s current focus is file storage and communication. It appears to be popular over seas, but may not be such a bad model for students.
